Hypnosis for Chronic Pain
Chronic Pain
Chronic pain can be defined as pain that lasts more than three months. The pain may be associated with a specific condition, for example fibromyalgia, or it can arise from a situation where there is no longer any pathological reason for the pain. Migraine headaches can also be considered a form of chronic pain. By motivating individuals to take themselves beyond pain, unfocus themselves from the anticipation of pain, they can refocus themselves on the positive outcomes of feeling no pain.
Hypnosis has shown to be an effective therapy for these types of chronic pain. When the negative cognitive connotations of pain are eliminated, then a great deal of the discomfort is also eliminated.
Because hypnosis is effective in reducing pain care must be taken to be clearly diagnosed by a physician as to the source of the pain to ensure that pain signals from other sources are not masked before they themselves can be diagnosed.
It is also strongly suggested that a thorough nutritional assessment is carried out to ensure that there are no micro nutrient deficiencies that could be affecting your overall health.
